Double legalization

Photo illustrating the news item

We would like to draw your attention to the double-legalization process of your non-conviction certificate.
From now on, only students or higher education institution representatives can legalize documents at MOFA in Lithuania; authorized persons are no longer able to do so.

Please keep in mind that you still have the option to get your non-criminal records double-legalized at Lithuanian Embassies abroad. In some cases, this could be a much faster option.

If your country does not have apostilles or is not a part of the Hague Convention, you need to have your documents double-legalized. Only countries that are a part of the Hague Convention , can skip the double legalization in their TRP process.

Documents from these countries have to be legalized in local MOFAs and the embassies listed here before sending them to Lithuania for double legalization:
- Algeria, Qatar – in the embassies in Poland
- UAE – in the embassy in Latvia
- Egypt, Nepal, Côte d’Ivoire – in the embassies in Denmark
- Sri Lanka – in the embassy in Sweden

Double legalization through SMK:

Please keep in mind that the double-legalization process in Lithuania can only commence after you have paid the tuition fee.

If you need to have a non-criminal record double-legalized in Lithuania, please follow these steps:

1. Legalize the documents in your country.

2. Apply to MIGRIS with your mediation code.

3. Send your documents to the SMK International Office with a courier.

In case you get accepted, we will add the 30 Eur to your next Tuition fee payment.
