Double legalization

We would like to draw your attention to the double-legalization process of your non-conviction certificate.
From now on, only students or higher education institution representatives can legalize documents at MOFA in Lithuania; authorized persons are no longer able to do so.

Please keep in mind that you still have the option to get your non-criminal records double-legalized at Lithuanian Embassies abroad. In some cases, this could be a much faster option.

If your country is not a part of the Hague Convention, you need to have your documents double-legalized. Only countries that are a part of the Hague Convention , can skip the double legalization in their TRP process.

Double legalization from abroad:

To legalize documents you need to contact the Lithuanian Embassy in your country or in the country where you can travel to.

The consular tax for the legalization of 1 document is 20 Euros.

When submitting documents for legalization, please include the following:

- Police clearance certificate/non-conviction document;
- Notarised copy of a valid passport or other identity document in case the documents are submitted via courier
- a free-form request (an application with the following information: the country in which the legalised document is to be submitted and applicant’s contact details (e-mail address and telephone No)
- a copy of a bank transfer or a payment receipt for legalisation of a document (consular fee for legalisation of one document – 20 EUR). The applicant also pays the courier service costs if requests the legalised document to be retrieved by the courier.

Documents have to be orderly and readable. If the document consists of a few pages, they have to be affixed or sewn together.

IMPORTANT! If the payment is made using a bank transfer online, please approve the payment at the bank and provide a bank receipt.

Double legalization through SMK:

Please keep in mind that the double-legalization process in Lithuania can only commence after you have paid the tuition fee.

If you need to have a non-criminal record double-legalized in Lithuania, please follow these steps:

1. Send your documents to the SMK International Office with a courier.

SMK Aukštoji Mokykla / SMK College of Applied Sciences
Kalvarijų st. 137E, LT-08248, Vilnius, Lithuania +37064918916, admission@smk.Lt

You are responsible for covering the postage costs.

If your documents are already in Lithuania but are not double-legalized, you or your representative can bring them in person to SMK.

2. Inform us at admission@smk.lt when you have sent out the documents and attach the post office confirmation, including the approximate delivery date.
We will send you an email once we receive the documents at the SMK office.

3. We will register for a visit to MOFA ourselves to get your documents legalized. You will receive an email from us once the process of legalizing your documents is complete.

4. After you receive confirmation from us that the documents have been legalized, you will have to organize a postal service to get them delivered back to you by a courier. You can use these services for example:
- DPD
- DHL (www.dhl.com/discover/en-global/ship-with-dhl/export-with-dhl/courier-pickup)
or any other provider you prefer.

We work Monday – Friday 8-17. The office is located in Kalvarijų st. 137E, 08248, room 102. You can use admission@smk.lt and +37068554597 as reference contacts.

Don’t forget to inform us about the time of the pick up so that we could pack and prepare your parcel.

If somebody else is picking up your documents, please write and email to admission@smk.lt to inform us, e.g. “My friend XXX XXX is going to be picking up my double legalized documents this Friday.”

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

For the legalization of your documents, we will need:
1. The document (original or a notarised copy [in case of documents originating from Lithuania]) to be legalized;
2. A free-form request. It has to include the following information:
- country in which the legalized document is to be submitted (Lithuania)
- your contact details (e-mail address and telephone No.)
- your MIGRIS application number.

The template for the request can be found here.

PAYMENT

The legalization process costs 30 Eur per person. To not cause additional costs, or problems as well as not to consume your time, we will pay for the legalization process in advance for you.

In case you get accepted, we will add the 30 Eur to your next Tuition fee payment.

We hope this message solves the issues that you all have been facing. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at admission@smk.lt.
